And whilst it may also wander from the beaten path, the updates as to social context are informative and set the scene well. He was certainly a retail innovator and could see the potential of technological inventions such as the car, aeroplane taking the first commercial flight from Hendon to Dublin and communications in Radio and TV. This book provided some interesting insight concerning the life and character of retail pioneer Harry Selfridge.

I found it interesting and enjoyed the early parts of his life in Chicago, and the initial opening shoppinv where he developed the store on Oxford Street.
This book reads like a meandering college research paper.
In the process Selfridge became rich and famous, But his weakness for high living: Seuctionhe died virtually penniless in a small flat in Putney. I recommend, this book, particularly to those who are fans of the BBC series “Mr.
